1. BE FIT TO DRIVE: You must hold a current and valid driving licence which must be produced on your first driving lesson, and at regular intervals throughout your training. Any changes to your driving licence due to medical conditions or driving convictions must be communicated to your instructor immediately. Please ensure that you present yourself in suitable clothing, particularly practical footwear. It is also important to attend lessons with any appropriate glasses or contact lenses for reasons of road safety. If your instructor feels you are unfit to drive for failing to meet any of these conditions and/or any other reasons, the lesson will be cancelled, and the lesson fee forfeited or become due for payment.
2. LESSON PAYMENTS: Any tuition MUST be paid for in advance. At the very latest, payments should be made within 24 hours of agreeing the time and date of your lesson. Failure to make payment within this time may result in the lesson being cancelled.
Any block booking payments must be made either before or at the beginning of the first lesson of each block. Lessons can be paid for by cash, cheque or bank transfer. Any block bookings must be used within 6 months of the first lesson that is attended. Failure to complete a block of hours will result in any used hours being charged at the full hourly rate before any refunds are made. Any refunds made will also include an administration fee at the cost of £2.50.
For vocational (C1, C1+E, C, C+E) or any intensive courses, payments must be made either at the time of booking or within 7 days of the booking date. If the test/course date is less than 7 days from the time of booking, payments MUST be made upon booking the course. Courses are not refundable and therefore a cancellation cannot be made.
For any car and trailer course a minimum deposit of £115.00 must be made at the time of booking for the DVSA test fee.
3. CANCELLATIONS: 36 hours (1.5 days) notice is required to cancel any driving lesson. If less than 36 hours (1.5 days) notice is given, the full lesson fee must be paid. If you have paid for a block of hours the cancelled time will be deducted from the block (applies only to Category B).
If you choose to reduce the length of any lesson with less than 24 hours’ notice, the full agreed time must be paid.
Vocational courses (C1, C1+E, C, C+E) and tests cannot be cancelled after the date of which the booking is made, unless agreed by your instructor.
Ewings Driver Training will not be held responsible for any technical or mechanical failures with the vehicle which cause any prevention of a lesson or any courses. If a lesson is missed it can be re-arranged at no additional cost.
If your instructor cancels a lesson due to any unforeseen circumstances, they will not be charged. The lesson will then be rearranged at a later date, with no additional cost to yourself.
4.PUNCTUALITY: Your instructor will contact you if they are going to be later than 5 minutes for your driving lesson. The time lost will be added to the end of the lesson if possible or added to another lesson at a later date.
If you are late for your lesson, then that time will be lost.
If you have failed to attend your lesson at the agreed time, your instructor will wait for a maximum of 15 minutes (unless otherwise agreed). Once this time has passed, the lesson would be abandoned, and the lesson fee charged. The fee will either be charged at the full hourly rate, or the time will be deducted from any outstanding block of hours.
5(A). THE DRIVING TEST BOOKING: Your driving test can be booked by yourself, or your instructor can make the booking on your behalf. If your instructor makes your test booking on your behalf, payment of the full test fee MUST be made to your instructor before the test is booked.
Any test dates MUST be confirmed with your instructor, to ensure they are available for the test. Failure to do so may result in your instructor not being available to accompany you to your driving test.
Driving test bookings will take priority over any lessons. Due to this, on occasions you may be asked to postpone your lesson, to allow for another pupil's test.
5(B). USE OF TUITION VEHICLE FOR DRIVING TESTS: Your instructor will provide you with a vehicle which is safe, legal and insured for your driving test. If any defects arise once the test has begun, your test may not go ahead, and the test fee lost. If on the rare occasion this does happen, Ewings Driver Training will not be held responsible for any losses.
Your instructor reserves the right to withdraw their vehicle from use on test if they feel your driving is dangerous or could be potentially dangerous. They may also withdraw their vehicle if they feel you are not fit to drive for any reason.
5(C). DRIVING TEST CANCELLATIONS: 3 Clear working days need to be given to, cancel a driving test or to move the date of a driving test.
If a test fee is lost, Ewings Driver Training will not be held responsible. Your instructor also reserves the right to withdraw their training car from a test if they do not feel that you are up to a safe driving standard.
6. CCTV: The vehicle may be fitted with CCTV for both insurance and tuition purposes. If you do not wish to be filmed, any internal recording can be switched off, but the external cameras will continue to run at all times.
Upon booking your first lesson or course, you agree to the above terms and conditions. You may be asked to sign a copy of the above terms and conditions before any tuition begins.
